Paul Thorkelson, 67, of Windom died May 4, 2018, at Windom Area Hospital in Windom.
A Celebration of Life service was Friday at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Hank Campbell officiating.
Special music was provided by Karen Wojahn, organist; and Jean Johnson, vocalist.
Burial will be at a later date at Maynard Lutheran Cemetery in Maynard.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Paul Richard Thorkelson was born March 27, 1951, to Endre and Teckla Thorkelson of Maynard. He was baptized and confirmed in the Maynard Lutheran Church.
After graduating from Maynard High School, he obtained his pilot's license and flew a Red Baron biplane for Schwan's of Marshall.
He then worked in sales for Schwan's in Baton Rouge, La., and did aerial crop spraying in the Maynard area.
He attended Granite Falls Technical College and earned a certificate in hydraulics. He was employed in hydraulics sales in Memphis, Tenn., Portland, Ore., and then worked out of Windom. He retired from sales at age 62.
He became a bus driver for Western Community Action, transporting people around the Windom area.
Paul was a member of American Lutheran Church in Windom.
He will be remembered as warm-hearted and friendly.
He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Donald (Sharon) Thorkelson.
Survivors include his brother, Ronald (Kaye) Thorkelson; sisters: Judith Thorkelson, Cheryle (Dave) Reinertsen and Laurie Thorkelson; four nieces and two nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and friends, Rory and Barb Johnson of Windom.
