Kenneth "Kenny" Sandbo, 76, of Windom died April 17, 2014, at Windom Area Hospital. Funeral services were Monday at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating. Special music was provided by Ruth Wohlfeil, organist. Honorary casket bearers were Samuel Sandbo and coffee buddies. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom. LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements. Kenneth "Kenny" Lee Sandbo was born May 7, 1937, to Olaf and Alvina Bertha (Weber) Sandbo in St. James. He was baptized in rural Odin and later confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Windom. Kenny received his early education at Highland Elementary School in Windom before graduating from Windom High School in 1955. He then obtained his student pilot's license. In 1962, Kenny married JoAnn Kay Wahl at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. Kenny worked various construction jobs, was a welder, a self-employed carpenter and sold used cars until retiring. Kenny was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom and the Rod Benders of Windom. He enjoyed old cars, especially his black, '57 Chevy, two-door hardtop; spending time with his family; gambling with friends Barb and Dale, and Wade and Deb; and watching NASCAR. In earlier years, Kenny built and raced stock cars in Jackson. A highlight of his life was attending the air show at Holmen Airfield in St. Paul with Donny Kalash. Kenny was able to ride in a P51 Mustang and received an autographed pictured of the plane and pilot. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Marie Sandbo; brothers, Dennis and James Sandbo; and twin brothers at birth. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, JoAnn Sandbo of Windom; two sons, Michael (Susan) Sandbo of Windom and Mark Sandbo of Loretta; a grandson; step-sister, Betty Sneer (Howard) of Laport; sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol Sandbo of Young America; LaVonne (John) Sandbo Simola of Big Lake; Marilyn Wahl of Windom; Marlene (Vince) Sandhurst of New Ulm; Rodney Wahl of Fulda; Harley (Jane) Wahl of Slayton; Arlyn (Dawn) Wahl of Ft. Ripley; Kenneth Wahl of Westbrook; DuWayne (Verna) Wahl of Nevada; and Mariette Wahl of California.
