Wes "Westy" Lee, 75, of Windom died Jan. 22, 2014, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m., at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Tim Wrenn officiating.
Special music will be provided by Dustin Stevens, pianist; Rachel Wrenn, vocalist; Nathan Elness and Lisa Sangren, duet.
Honorary bearers will be Steve Higley, Bill Baumann, Gaylord Anderson, Harrel "Oakie" Lambert, Dave Jourdan, Virg Amundson, LaVerne Swanberg and Dick Severson.
Full military honors, provided by American Legion Post 206 of Windom and Minnesota Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors, will take place at the church following the service.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Benson City Cemetery in Benson.
Visitation will be held Friday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Wes "Westy" Lee was born Jan. 11, 1939, to Elmer and Violet (Amundson) Lee in Benson. He was baptized at Lake Hazel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson. He received his education from Benson High School, graduating in 1957.
Westy enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1961.
In 1962, he married Barbara Roberts. They were blessed with three children, Michelle, Barry and an infant son who died, before the marriage was later dissolved.
In 1987, Westy married Sandy Purrington and became a stepfather to Jody, Dona and Joel Purrington.
Westy moved to Windom in 1965 where he owned and operated the Windom Bowling Alley for 10 years and then Lee's Furniture in Wilder for four years. He also served as Windom mayor from 1973 to 1980.
He then worked in transportation sales and management until retiring in 1999.
Westy was a member of American Lutheran Church in Windom.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and wintering in Mission, Texas. He also enjoyed fishing, golf and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Lee; an infant son; and a stepson, Joel Purrington.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Lee of Windom; daughter, Michelle (Bob) Elness of Fargo, N.D.; daughter-in-law, Gina Lee of Bismarck, N.D.; two stepdaughters, Jody Purrington of Duluth and Dona Purrington of Shoreview; and five grandchildren.
