Sharmen Christopherson, 70, of Courtland, formerly of Windom, died Jan. 19, 2014, at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor John Gabrielson officiating.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home South Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue Friday at the church in New Ulm for one hour prior to services.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the funeral arrangements.
Sharmen Jean Ihrke was born March 28, 1943, to Emil and Elsie (Kuehl) Ihrke in Amo Township of Cottonwood County. She attended Windom High School and Mankato Beauty School.
In 1963, Sharmen married Keith Christopherson at Amo Methodist Church in rural Storden. She was employed by Red Owl and Cashwise, the Backerei, Courtland Mart, MBW and HSI Group Homes.She enjoyed working with people and was involved in her community.
Shar was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Courtland Lions and a former member of the Optimist Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, traveling with her sisters, reading and gardening.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, baby Sharmen; a granddaughter, Brianna Krosch; and a sister, Mary Holsen.
Survivors include her husband, Keith "Rusty" Christopherson of Courtland; daughters, Marie Helvie of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Kari (Jeff) Krosch of Kellogg; five grandchildren; sisters: Carolyn (Bill) Eigenberg of Heron Lake, Clarice (Dave) Vennix of Bloomington and Leatrice Scott of Winnipeg, Canada; brothers, Richard (Marge) Ihrke of Cottage Grove and Mike (SueAnn) Ihrke of Prior Lake; and a brother-in-law, John Holsen of Mankato.
