Effie Myers


Effie Myers, 97, of Windom died Oct. 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
A memorial service will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Pastor Tim Wrenn officiating.
Special music will be provided by Karen Wojahn, organist.
Honorary bearers will be Howard Sinnamon, Shawn Myers, Nick Myers, Scott Myers, Wendy Pratt, Teirney Zimmer and Pauline Blake.
Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom.
Visitation was Thursday and will continue today from 10 to 11 a.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home.
Effa "Effie" Agnes Vosberg was born Nov. 11, 1915, to William and Lydia (Comnick) Vosberg in Rosehill Township of Cottonwood County. At age 3, she moved with her family to the family farm at Dovray. Effie was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dovray.
Effie lived on the family farm until she married Amos Albert Myers in Westbrook. They were blessed with a daughter, Ruth Elaine, before Amos's death in 1936.
Effie and Ruth then moved to Slayton.
In 1943, Effie married Frank Myers. They later moved to Westbrook where Effie worked at the local egg plant. The family then moved to Windom.
Effie also worked at Tony Downs in St. James and Butterfield before becoming a stay-at-home mom as her family grew.
After Frank's death in 2003, Effie stayed in her home in Windom until 2012 when she became a resident of Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
Effie was a member of American Lutheran Church in Windom. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, watching birds at her bird feeder, embroidering and crocheting.
In addition to her two husbands, Amos and Frank Sr., Effie was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maria Myers; two grandsons, Jerry and Kim Sinnamon; a great-great-granddaughter, Melanie Hansen; three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her three daughters and two sons: Ruth (Milford "Slim") Sinnamon of Jeffers, Arlene "Rose" (Ken) Dehmlow of Jordan, Frank Myers Jr. and John (Connie) Myers, all of Bingham Lake, and Ethel Myers of Windom; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Edna Bosler of Tell City, Ind.; Lucy (Levie) Jensen of California; and Polly Wright of Clinton, Iowa.
