Mable C. Michelau, 68, of Excelsior formerly of Windom, died Oct. 8, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Excelsior after living with Parkinson's disease for almost 12 years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, West 50th St. and Highway 100, in Edina.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Mable C. Michelau was born Oct. 30, 1944 to Albert and Darleen Michelau in Park Rapids. She grew up on farms near Fulda and Dundee and spent her last year of high school at Windom High School.
After high school, she spent seven years with the Adrian Dominican Sisters in Adrian, Mich.
After leaving the convent she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Mankato State University and taught elementary education. She then worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
For almost 30 years, Mable was involved with the Girl Scouts as a leader and also taught CCD at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom.
She will be remembered as a strong, intelligent woman who enjoyed making people laugh.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John.
Survivors include her daughter, Darla Michelau of St. Louis Park; a sister, Joan; and a brother, Alan.
