Janet Bak, 70, of Windom died July 23, 2013, at Windom Area Hospital.
Visitation was Thursday at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom, which handled the funeral arrangements.
Janet Delight Petersen was born Aug. 26, 1942, to Swen and Kathleen (Wilford) Petersen in Jackson. She was baptized and later confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Jackson. She received her education from Jackson Public Schools.
In 1961, Janet married Ronald Bak in Sioux Falls. They moved to Windom where Janet worked for many years as a day care provider.
Janet was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Windom. She enjoyed sprint car races, flower gardens and archery. She also loved her dogs and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Constance Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Bak of Windom; five children: Vicki (Brian) Higgins of Clear Lake, Iowa; Ricky (Barb) Bak of St. James; Tamara (Warren) Meinders of Worthington; Lisa (Ted) Phillips of Wyoming; and Laurie (Brian) Burmeister of Welcome; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonita Shanks of Moulton, Texas; and two brothers, Julian (Ruth) Petersen of Slayton and Franklin (Terri) Petersen of Windom.
