Peder George Pederson was born to Peder B. and Carrie M. (Flatebo) Pederson in Windom. He received his education in Storden Public Schools until age 16 when he left school to run the family farm.
Peder was baptized and confirmed, attended Storden Baptist Church during his youth and joined Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden at the time of his marriage.
In 1950, Peder married Ardith "Ardy" Jensen at the Bethany Lutheran Parsonage. He farmed his entire life, even helping with the harvest as recently as this past fall, "in retirement."
In later years, he delivered vans and motor homes for Winnebago for several years, and during that time traveled throughout the continental U.S. and Alaska.
He also made trips to Norway in 1939, 1988 and 1993. He was proud of his family, his Norwegian heritage and his farm, which was named a Century Farm in 2007.
A longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden, Peder spent many years as custodian, was sexton for the church cemetery for over 50 years, served on the church council and was an advisor for Luther League.
In his community, Peder served on the Storden school board from 1968 to 1974 and was a member of the Sons of Norway, Vestlands Laget, and Hardanger Lag, serving as secretary from 1999 to 2013. He also served with several other community groups and boards throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardith "Ardy" Pederson, who died in May.
Survivors include his four children: Peggy (Bob) Haken of Windom, Rhonda Klein of Monticello, Michael (Kate) Pederson of Brooklyn Park and Jeffrey (Morgen) Pederson of Storden; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and relatives still living in Norway.
