Gertrude "Gert" Ann Meyer, 70, of Windom died May 8, 2013, at her home in Windom.
Funeral services were Monday at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Steve Fresk officiating.
Special music was provided by Colleen Ortmann, organist; Randy Loewen and Tyler Holmes, guitarist and vocalist.
Casket bearers were her grandsons: Nicholas Madsen, Adam Madsen, Tyler Holmes, Brandon Rodriguez, Tom Hill and Elliot Shelstad.
Honorary bearers were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren: Sarah Madsen, Amber Schenk, Amanda Madsen, Megan Schenk, Baily Koch, Brooklyn Holmes, Landan Madsen, Keegan Madsen and Bentley Pates.
Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Gertrude "Gert" Ann Scotting was born July 2, 1942, to Frank and Irene (Beers) Scotting in Lake Wilson. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Lake Wilson and grew up in Lake Wilson before graduating from Lake Wilson High School in 1960.
In 1962, Gert married John Holmes in Hadley. They were blessed with four daughters, Brenda, Sandra, Linda and Rhonda, before the marriage was later dissolved.
In 1990, Gert married Kenneth "Mike" Meyer in Windom and was blessed with four step-children: Carolyn, Pam, Kathy and Dan.
Through the years, Gert worked at Fecker's Produce in Pipestone until moving to Windom where she worked at Fingerhut, Gordy's Super Valu and Cottonwood County DAC. She also owned and operated Just 4-U Auctions and cleaned homes for people.
Gert was a cancer survivor, having fought the disease and been cancer-free for 10 years.
She enjoyed attending auctions, camping, painting and crafts. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Simon Scotting.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth "Mike" Meyer of Windom; four daughters: Brenda (Mark) Schenk and Linda (Randy) Loewen, all of Windom; Sandra (John) Madsen of Waseca; and Rhonda Fowler (Tim Moonen) of Jackson; seven grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Baily Koch; three great-grandchildren; a special great-grandchild, Bentley Pates; four step-children: Carolyn (Jim) Sina of St. Louis Park; Pam (Mark) Thomas of Omaha, Neb.; Kathy (Craig) Purrington and Dan Meyer, all of Windom; six step-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Werner of Cuba City, Wis.
