Kathleen Oelke

Kathleen Borer Oelke, 82, of Worthington, formerly of Windom, died March 27, 2013, at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington.
Services were Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Windom with Pastor Arthur Miller officiating.
Special music was provided by Deann Steele, organist; Pastor Art and Sherry Miller, vocalists.
Honorary bearers were the late Rosemary and Alden Dorschner family.
Casket bearers were Jason Bretzman, Todd Bretzman, Brian Bretzman, John Borer, Ben Borer, Adam Borer and Jesse Borer.
Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Kathleen Ann Porath was born July 16, 1930, to Kenneth and Veronica (O'Brien) Porath in Coon Township, Varina, Iowa. She received her education from Mt. Lake Public Schools.
In 1948, Kathleen married Merl Borer at the Methodist church in Jackson. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Patricia, James, Rodney and Steven. They farmed in the Bergen area for several years and Kathleen worked at Fingerhut, Sperry Univac as an inspector and as a waitress.
Merl died in 1985.
In 1993, Kathleen married Darald Oelke at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lakefield. He died three months later.
Kathleen continued living in Windom until moving to Eventide Suites in Mt. Lake in 2005. She moved to Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom until 2012 when she moved to Crossroads Care Center in Worthington.
Kathleen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Windom where she was a member of Circles and enjoyed Friendly Fellowship. She also was a member of the Windom Hospital Auxiliary, Windom VFW Auxiliary, Gray Ladies at the Sogge Home and the 5th Ave. Birthday Club since 1956.
She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but also enjoyed all flowers, especially roses. She enjoyed working and helping others, visiting, giving rides and attending family events until she was disabled by Alzheimer's.
In addition to her two husbands, Merl Borer and Darald Oelke, she was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Norine (Rassler) Porath; a granddaughter, Melissa Borer; a brother, Ronald Porath; a sister, Mary Lou Porath; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Porath and Arlene Borsgard; and a brother-in-law, Richard Tew.
Survivors include her four children: Patricia (Fredrick) Bretzman of Worthington, James (Cynthia) Borer of Windom, Rodney (Phyllis) Borer of Little Rock, Iowa, and Steve (Eva) Borer of Bingham Lake; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Lowell Porath of Mt. Lake, Donald (Diane) Porath of Cottage Grove, Deland (Diana) Porath of Perham and Leland (Karen) Porath of New Brighton.; a sister, Virginia Tew of Alexandria, Va.; a sister-in-law, Diane Porath of Inver Grove Heights; and a brother-in-law, Sedrick Borsgard of Windom.
