Richard "Zeke" Holt, 79, of rural Windom, died Dec. 17, 2012, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Services were Friday at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Tim Wrenn officiating.
Special music was provided by Rozanne Gronseth, organist; and David Rupp, vocalist.
Casket bearers were John Holt, Rodney Holt, Mark Tasler, Joe Torkelson, Chuck Dewanz and Daryl Ray.
Honorary bearers were Zeke's grandchildren.
Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Richard John "Zeke" Holt was born June 20, 1933, to Joe and Genevieve (Anderson) Holt in rural Windom. Raised by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, Richard was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Windom, where he was a longtime member and usher.
In 1952, Richard graduated from Windom High School, where he participated in football, basketball and track. He placed second as a junior and first as a senior in the 440-yard dash at the Minnesota State High School Track Meet.
He was inducted into the Windom Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.
In 1958, Richard married Diane Benson at American Lutheran Church in Windom. Together, they farmed and raised two sons, Jeff and Greg.
After farming for 23 years, Dick worked for Jeffers Shield and the City of Windom until retiring in 1996. In retirement, he mowed lawns for many businesses and later delivered prescription drugs for Lewis Family Drug in Windom.
He enjoyed woodworking, building and restoring cars, building model airplanes, hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with friends and family at the lake.
He will be remembered for his faith, work ethic, sense of humor and playfulness.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Holt of Windom; sons, Jeff (Shelly) Holt of Mapleton and Greg (Julie) Holt of Windom; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
