Fritzi Hawks

Fritzi Hawks, 89, of Rose-ville, formerly of Windom, died Dec. 1, 2012, at Friendship Home Communities in Roseville.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Windom with Pastor Art Miller officiating.
Military honors will follow the service outside the church.
Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church in Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Frieda "Fritzi" Rogene Wedeking was born Nov. 18, 1923, to Paul and Minnie (Collins) Wedeking on the family farm near Lakefield. She received her education from Lakefield Public School.
After high school, Fritzi attended business school in Chicago, where she worked as a bookkeeper and censor. She then moved to St. Paul and was a bookkeeper there.
Fritzi enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served from 1944 to 1946.
In 1949, Fritzi married Lloyd George Hawks in Hibbing. They lived in Lakefield where Fritzi worked as a clerk at the post office.
In 1971, they moved to Windom where Fritzi worked as a bookkeeper and retired as a clerk at the Cottonwood County Courthouse.
After Lloyd's death in 2006, Fritzi moved to Friendship Home Communities in Rose-ville.
A member of First United Methodist Church in Windom, Fritzi was involved in her circle group. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and American Legion in Windom.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, nature, walking and playing games and cards with friends and family.
In addition to her husband Lloyd, Fritzi was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Gordon Wedeking; and three sisters: Margaret Denton Smith, Gertrude Gunther and Ethel Lucks.
Survivors include her four children: Lloyd Hawks Jr. of New Richland, Becky (Dan) Edberg of Roseville, Greg (Linda) Hawks of Maple Grove and Kent (Anna) Hawks of St. Paul; five grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Darlene) Wedeking of Lakefield; and a sister, Rosamond Hochstein of Battle Lake.
