Kristy M. Kirchner, 34, of Lakefield died Dec. 1, 2012, at her home in Lakefield after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation was held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m., at Osterberg-Hansen Funeral Home in Lakefield, which handled the funeral arrangements.
Kristy Marie Elmer was born March 3, 1978, in Mankato to Mark and Bonnie (Jacobsen) Elmer of Minnesota Lake.
Kristy was baptized at St. John's the Baptist Church in Minnesota Lake and later confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield.
The Elmers moved to Lakefield in 1980 where Kristy attended Lakefield Public Schools before graduating from Heron Lake-Okabena-Lakefield High School in 1996. She also graduated from Worthington Community College in 1998.
In 2000, Kristy married Steve Kirchner at Four Columns Inn in Sherburn.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing golf and spending time with her children, family and friends.
Kristy was an avid supporter of the Young Survival Coalition. She participated in many research trials with the Mayo Clinic and supported other young women whenever possible. She also participated in Relays For Life in Windom and Jackson
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lowell Sr. and Corrine Elmer, and August (Loretta) Jacobsen.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Kirchner, son Ethan and daughter Brittany, all of Lakefield; her parents, Bonnie and Mark Elmer of Windom; a brother, Scott (Mary) Elmer of Savage; a sister, Kathryn Elmer (Scott Vollan) of Windom; and in-laws, Robert and Charlene Kirchner of Brewster.
