Tom the Turkey and other state highlights
If you look closely at the team photo for the RRC/WWG baseball team from their Section 3A title win and their third-place state tourney finish, you'll notice an interesting inanimate object.
Sitting in the front row, usually on someone's knee or under an arm, is a plastic turkey hunting decoy, draped in a red and black camouflage Falcon baseball jersey.

Vacation Planning
One of the best uses of the Internet that I know of is researching and planning vacations. Many years ago we planned vacations using maps, vacation guides that were mailed to us, Triptiks from AAA or advice from friends.
Don't get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with that. Some days I long for going down the road with a real piece of paper or map in my hand.

A look back at the busy and productive legislative session
The 2017 legislative session has come to a successful close.
Greater Minnesotans: take note. Keeping up with ALICE
A week ago, I found myself hiding in a second floor restroom, waiting and listening for gunshots, wondering when my time would come.
I was concealed, for the moment, behind a bathroom stall. In the next stall, Trevor Slette was concealed as well.
We were extremely quiet and motionless, but when the shooter entered any room, the search would be thorough, just as it was at Columbine High School and Sandy Hook Elementary.
The entire floor was in total lockdown mode. That was our defense against the threat. Still, we knew it was not "if," but "when."

Fat-tummied deer delivering fawns this month
If you've been looking closely you might have noticed some big tummy doe deer alongside our roads lately. It seems that the last two weeks of their pregnancy is when it really becomes obvious. Their jumps aren't quite as far and they run with their rear legs swinging out just a bit further.
