What does the new buffer law mean for Cottonwood County?
The "B" Word has a new meaning in agriculture right now for Minnesota producers and it means buffers.
In June 2015, the Minnesota Legislature and the Governor signed into law 103F.48, or more commonly known as the Buffer Law that requires an average of 50 feet from all public watercourses and 16.5 feet from all public drainage ditches. Some updates were made in an amendment in April 2016 to the law to help clarify parts of the law. So what does it all mean for producers in Cottonwood County?
