Something exciting is going on at WCC
It may be relatively unnoticed by the general public that doesn't drive out of town on County Road 13 very often.
But if you do, you will notice that there is some activity going on at the Windom Country Club.
It obviously isn't on the course. It is far too cold to golf right now.
No, the activity is in the clubhouse, where the course's board of directors and numerous volunteers have taken on a wholesale remodeling project.

Storage or backup?
One of the hardest things we have to do is tell people they have lost all of their pictures, documents or other data.
Sometimes the loss of data is the result of a computer malfunction or a bad hard drive. There are other times when the loss of data is from an external device such as a flash/jump drive or an external hard drive.
We have had to pass on this bad news twice in the past week.

Vikings beat the curse
Moments after Stefon Diggs made Sunday's unforgettable game-winning catch, Vikings fans across the state thought, "This can't be happening."
We rubbed our eyes, searched for flags and waited for the "official review." It was hard to relax until both teams left the field.
Our guys usually lose these games because of a missed field goal, or bad call. Right?

50-year-old New Year's baby
I've said this before and I'll say it again, one of the most enjoyable parts of my job is writing up the reflections column.
I usually spend most of a day and a little more writing up three months worth of columns, looking back at happenings and events 10, 25 and 50 years ago.

Baby Cafe empowers, informs, supports new mothers
"If a new vaccine became available that could prevent one million or more child deaths a year and that was moreover cheap, safe, administered orally and required no cold chain, it would become an immediate public health imperative. Breastfeeding can do all of this and more, but it requires its own 'warm chain' of support - that is, skilled care for mothers to build their confidence and show them what to do, and protection from harmful practices."

Brown dog whimpered as fall pheasant hunt closed
His full name is Bud Grant. No, I'm not talking about the iconic Minnesota football coach and well known hunter. It's the brown dog I hunt with and call to him daily as Buddy.
I always wanted to hunt with the real Bud Grant. Knowing that it was highly unlikely I ever would I gave my dog that name. Now, if anyone asks who I hunt with I can say Bud Grant and watch their eyes light up (or roll).
