Fewer doe hunters increases the pressure on bucks
The 80 acres I have set aside entirely for wildlife is along the Des Moines River northwest of Windom. It is in the approximate middle of the land inside the great bend of the river. It is hunted cautiously for bucks, ducks and pheasants and was purchased by me 20 years ago. I knew someday these legs and lungs of mine wouldn't take me up Montana mountains or Goodhue County gullies.

Peterson's gone for season
The NFL finally made up its mind on Adrian Peterson, and I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise to Vikings fans that he was suspended for the remainder of the season.
Peterson, of course, is appealing the ruling. And I think he'll have a decent case, since the NFL has been a bit inconsistent with its handling of the league's personal conduct policy.

Winter starts with a flurry
I know I wasn't the only one who was monitoring the weather forecast closely this weekend.
The original calls for heavy snowfall were met with two very different reactions - a cheer from kids hoping for an early snow day, and a groan from everyone else.
