Time to rally 'round musical
Hey, boys and girls (that means you, too, adults), the Windom Area High School Winter Musical needs your support - and your bodies!
The local thespians, their crew and directors have been working day and night, learning lines, blocking scenes, preparing sets, rehearsing music in a consolidated two months so they can treat you to a second musical production in the same academic year. That's a first for the local high school drama department.
Moreover, they've had to do it while missing practices due to cancellation or early dismissals of the school day throughout January.
Crazy for You is a comical 1930s Western that is sure to leave you splitting a gut after hearing a plethora of humorous lines. And if you don't believe me, just read a few of them in the Reader's Respond segment right below this column.
So, what can you do? Buy tickets.
Indeed, ticket sales have been slow, mostly because many of you are no doubt concerned about the weather. And, rightfully so. The weather has been less than cooperative this winter.
However, the forecast for Thursday through Saturday calls for a less than 30% chance of light snow showers and little wind. Moreover, the temperatures appear to be finally climbing out of the deep freeze, so venturing out to watch the musical on a crisp winter evening shouldn't be a problem. In fact, it will do your body good to get out and make some laughter.
Lord knows, we all need that.
More importantly, we need to support our youth who have put a great deal of time and effort into staging this production - for our enjoyment.
So, give a call to the WAMHS office today and reserve your tickets. You don't even need to drive in to pick them up before the show. You can request the best seats available, or at least a general location, come to the show that night - or afternoon - and pay for your tickets then.
They can make the process very easy for you.
But if you want to see where your seats will be and you happen to be in town to shop, swing by the school and reserve your tickets.
I've only seen snippets of the production so far, but what I've seen you will enjoy. In fact, it's a show that will be fun for the entire family.
Get your tickets today!
Super Bowl prognostication
I found our online poll, asking which team you think will win Sunday's Super Bowl, rather interesting.
It's a landslide for the Broncos.
I voted for the Seahawks.
Why? There are two ways of looking at that poll. I think Seattle will win because a good defense (Seahawks) almost always beats a good offense (Broncos).
On the other hand, the team I want to win is the Broncos. Hard to cheer against a class act like Peyton Manning.
