Spring dispersal is important to local wildlife
The Harris's sparrows feeding on the ground below my bird feeders, the robins nesting on the downspouts and the wood ducks using the boxes designed for them in our maple trees are all the results of continental length migration.

Ivory-billed coots have adapted and survive
They call them mud hens and crazy old coot is an occasionally used description of a harmless simpleton. But, the fact is, those ivory-billed coots are really a highly adapted survivalist.
