The joys and heartaches of a close canine companion

Frequently, I've shared with readers the many fun times experienced with my brown dog Goose. The joys of canine companionship you could call it. They started with his first dead bird retrieval. Actually, it wasn't a retrieve, it was a pickup, then feast. Shortly after, it was his first fall in the marsh, I watched as the not yet year-old dog chased down a wounded shoveler duck through 6" of water and 6" of mud.
