Televising board meetings
A week ago on this page, we ran an editorial urging Cottonwood County commissioners and Windom school board members to consider televising board meetings.
Since then, I've received multiple comments along the lines of, "I agree, 100%." Not one person has said we should not televise county or school meetings.
Someone asked how rural residents could see the meetings. I suggested that the meetings be saved on a DVD which could be loaned either at the Courthouse, or, better yet, at our public libraries.
To its credit, the school board has already shown signs that it may take the plunge into televised meetings. I respect the board for taking a very intelligent and modern approach to public office and their constituents.
As for the county commissioners, I have not seen the same type of approach. The topic was raised by Commissioner Tom White, but the rest of the board did not comment.
Stay tuned.
