Windom 28-37 = 65 SWC 37-34 = 71 The Windom Eagle boys basketball team took its first loss of the season Saturday morning, falling 71-65 to Southwest Minnesota Christian as part of the Big South Conference Showcase in St. Peter.
Windom trailed by nine at halftime, but rallied in the second half, briefly taking the lead.
But SWC's defense created chances to score in transition, allowing it to regain the lead. SWC then sealed the game by going 9-of-13 from the free throw line in the second half.
Wyatt Minion led the Eagles with 18 points in the game. Kobe Lovell added 16 points and Kaden Elder scored 12.
MLA 36-40 = 76 Loyola 41-18 = 59 The Mt. Lake Area boys basketball team clamped down on defense in the second half Saturday, providing the spark for a 76-59 victory over Mankato Loyola at Mankato.
The Wolverines trailed by five at halftime, but outscored the Crusaders 40-18 in the second half.
Abraham Stoesz scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half, hitting four three-pointers in the game. Marcus Boyd added 11 second-half points to finish the game with 18. David Larson added 11 and Weston Osland scored 10 in the win.
