Eagles spike Cardinals Thursday

The Windom Eagle volleyball team started fast and kept up the pace all night Thursday, rolling to a 3-0 sweep over Redwood Valley at Redwood Falls.

Game scores were 25-7, 25-15 and 25-17.

Windom had a strong night at the net, led by Porsha Porath's 11 kills. Becca Hacker added 10 kills, Tori Christoffer 9 and Katelyn Nichols 7.

The Eagles were also strong with the block. Ella Brockman led the Eagles with four solo blocks. Nichols added three and Hacker two.

From the service line, Hacker went 15-of-18 with two aces. Halle Jackson was 15-of-16.

Hacker handed out 23 set assists. Emily Steen had a team-high 11 digs.

MLA 07-24-16 = 0
RRC 25-26-25 = 3

Red Rock Central mounted a furious second-set rally and kept the momentum into the third set Thursday, claiming a 3-0 sweep over Mt. Lake Area at Lamberton.

Game scores were 25-7, 26-24 and 25-16.

After winning the first set 25-7, the Falcons fell behind early in the second set before rallying for the win.

RRC had a big night from the service line, firing 22 aces as a team. Katelyn Rogotzke had nine aces on 18-of-19 serving to lead the Falcons. Kennedi Janssen was 13-of-13 with six aces. Hannah DeCock was 13-of-15 with five aces and Kierra Highby was 8-of-9 with three aces.

At the net, Vanessa Kedl led RRC with six kills. DeCock added five and Nicole Schroepfer had four. Janssen finished with 20 set assists. Haley Simonson finished with 11 digs.

HBC 27-25-24-25 = 3
WWG 25-18-26-10 = 1

Westbrook-Walnut Grove put up a big fight early but ran out of gas late, falling 3-1 to Hills-Beaver Creek Thursday at Westbrook.

Game scores were 27-25, 25-18, 24-26 and 25-10 for the Patriots.

The first set was back-and-forth throughout before HBC rallied late to close it out. Then, WWG mounted a comeback to win the third set. But HBC started set four with a 13-1 lead and closed out the match.

Emma Wahl led WWG from the service line going 17-of-17. Talitha Horkey was 11-of-11 with an ace.

Horkey led WWG with eight kills. Alli Vande Kieft added six kills and Brittany Erickson had five. Camryn Bunting had three solo blocks.

Wahl finished with 20 digs. Grace Woelber had 20 set assists.
