Eagle spikers open with win
Falcons sweep Tigers
Springfield 22-21-12 = 0
RRC 25-25-25 = 3

Red Rock Central improved to 2-0 for the season Thursday, claiming a 3-0 sweep over Springfield at Lamberton.

The Falcons recorded 10 ace serves as a team, led by a 16-of-17 serving night with four aces from Olivia Bittner. Rachel Kedl, Mikaela Smith and Taylor Price each added two aces.

Kedl led the Falcons at the net with 11 kills while Bittner added nine. Maria Johnson finished with six kills.

Smith handed out 32 set assists. Price and Ramsey Piotter each had 18 digs while Bittner finished with 13.

Windom 25-25-24-25 = 3

The Windom Eagles bombed away from the service line Thursday night, recording 28 ace serves as a team in a 3-1 season-opening victory over Worthington at Windom.

The match was also the Big South Conference debut for both teams.

Windom cruised in the first two sets, where many of the ace serves were piled up. Worthington was able to regroup, rallying to win the third set 26-24. But Windom was able to surge in the fourth set, claiming a 25-14 set win.

Porsha Porath led the Eagles at the net with 13 kills and three solo blocks. She also had seven ace serves on 9-of-11 serving.

Michaela Hacker added five kills while Morgan Hockel finished with four.

Lauren Huset was 7-of-8 serving with six aces. Jasmine Carlson went 8-of-10 serving with six aces. Hannah Redmond, Madison Maras and Hockel each had three ace serves.

Hacker added three solo blocks. Huset finished with 15 set assists and Carlson had a team-high 10 digs.
