Rabbits knock out Eagles
Windom 000 000 0 = 0-6-1
Wabasso 001 300 x = 4-3-0
The Windom Eagle baseball team saw its postseason run abruptly come to an end Tuesday afternoon, as Wabasso pitchers Josh Altermatt and Neil Eichten combined to toss a seven-hit shutout as the Rabbits defeated the Eagles 4-0 at Marshall.
Windom stranded runners at third base in four innings, hit into two double plays and had one runner thrown out at the plate.
Wabasso scored in the bottom of the third when Eichten reached on an error, allowing a run to score. Then, in the fourth, the Rabbits plated three runs on a bases-loaded walk, a fielder's choice and a wild pitch.
Jeff Pfeffer had two of the Eagles' six hits in the loss.
Jack Mellstrom worked the first 3-1/3 innings to take the pitching loss. He allowed four runs on two hits, walked four and struck out five.
