The Windom girls golf team turned in a stellar round of 364 to win the Section 3A championship at the Marshall Country Club Wednesday and advance to the Class A State Tournament.
In addition, two Windom boys earned berths in the state golf tournament after earning top-five finishes and Westbrook-Walnut Grove's Abby Herding carded an 83 to win the Section 3A girls individual title and also advance to state.
The Windom girls had three of the top five finishers en route to a 17-stroke victory over runner-up Minneota. The Vikings girls golf team finished at 381, while Adrian was third with a 412 and Lakeview was fourth with a 430.
Individually, senior Miki Bolin finished in a tie for second, carding an 86, while Windom teammate Kelsey Hanefeld finished fourth with a 90. Windom's Maitland Vollan rounded out the top five, finishing in a tie for fifth, shooting a 91. Windom's other scores included a 96 from Emily Jackson, a 97 from Leigh Hanefeld and a 102 from Marissa Cartwright.
On the boys side, Windom finished just three strokes behind Section 3A champion Murray County Central, 342-345. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton was third with a 365 and Minneota finished fourth with a 370.
However, Windom will send two individuals on to the Class A State Tournament. Junior Kyle Antes paced the Eagles, shooting an 81 to finish fourth, while senior Dylan Pigman finished fifth with an 84.
Windom's other scores included an 89 from Tanner Diemer, a 91 from Ryan Clark, a 101 from Same Diemer and a 104 from Nathan Luitjens.
The individual Section 3A champion was Grant Everson of MCC, who shot a 77.
The Class A State Golf Tournament will be played at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker June 10 and 11.
