Eagles, Chargers open track season at Luverne
The outdoor track season began Tuesday, with Windom and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central opening the year at the Cardinal Invite in Luverne.
In the boys standings, Worthington claimed the team title with 182 points, with Luverne second with 175. Windom finished third with 92½ points. WWG/RRC was seventh with 44.
Luverne rolled to the girls' team title with 260 points. Windom was seventh with 32½ and WWG/RRC was eighth with 31½ points.
Individually, Victor Ogeka was the lone Eagle boys champion, winning the triple jump with a leap of 40-11.
Amy Muller was the lone Eagle girls champion, taking first in the pole vault by clearing 8-6.
Melanie Kedl captured the only first-place finish for WWG/RRC's girls, winning the 400-meter dash in 64.56 seconds.
