3/26/2014 8:01:00 AM Falcon boys, Bobcat wrestlers win academic state titles
The Red Rock Central boys basketball team and Wabasso-Red Rock Central wrestling teams have each been named Class A Academic State Champions by the respective coaches associations in each sport.
The RRC boys basketball team was the only Gold Academic team in the state, as noted by the Minnesota Boys Basketball Coaches Association, recording the highest grade point average of any team in the state at 3.75.
The WRRC wrestling team captured Gold Academic honors and state academic champion honors with a GPA of 3.79. The Bobcats were one of 43 teams in the state to earn gold academic honors.
The RRC girls basketball team made it a clean sweep of gold academic honors for the school during the winter sports season, recording a GPA of 3.84. That was good enough to capture the Section 3A academic championship. However, Mankato Loyola won the Class A team academic state championship with a GPA of 3.96.
The Windom girls basketball team received silver academic honors from the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association with a GPA of 3.55.
