Falcons stay perfect in league, hang on to beat Wildcats

RRC 32-27 = 59
SWU 18-36 = 54

Red Rock Central saw a 20-point lead in the second half sliced to a single point Thursday before regaining its footing for a 59-54 victory over Southwestern United at Okabena.

The Falcons led 32-18 at halftime and quickly stretched the lead to 40-20 early in the second half. But SWU mounted a furious rally while RRC went cold from the field. The Wildcats cut the Falcon lead to a single point at 53-52 with just under two minutes to go. A three-pointer by Brooke Rasmussen and a string of free throws helped the Falcons seal the victory.

Ramsey Piotter and Melanie Kedl each scored 13 points to lead the Falcons. Rasmussen added eight points in the win.

HBC 24-26 = 50
WWG 18-28 = 46

Westbrook-Walnut Grove struggled from the field and from the line Thursday night as the Chargers fell 50-46 to Hills-Beaver Creek at Westbrook.

The Patriots held a six-point halftime lead. WWG battled back in the second half but was sunk by poor free throw shooting. The Chargers went just 2-of-9 from the stripe in the second half and 3-of-11 for the game.

Mady Johnson led WWG with 11 points. Kaylee Mischke added 10 points and Dayna Comnick and Elizabeth Woelber each scored nine in the loss.
