Cobras 66, Cardinals 6 Cobras 31, Arrows 30 The Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team remained unbeaten in Southwest Conference action Tuesday night but needed a thrilling come-from-behind win to do so, defeating Pipestone 31-30 in the back end of a triangular meet at Windom.
Pipestone defeated Redwood Valley 67-9 to open the triangular. The Cobras then defeated Redwood Valley 66-6 before picking up the win over Pipestone.
In the opener against Redwood Valley, the Cobras received falls from Wyatt Stevens (106), Hunter Quiring (113), Jacob Suess (138), Ben Matter (152), Andrew Larson (160) and Vince Johnson (195). Adding decision wins were Joe Fischenich (120) and Aaron Flatgard (220). The Cobras also received four forfeits.
Against Pipestone, the Cobras jumped to an early 11-3 lead and led 14-7 before the Arrows won three straight bouts. Quiring (106) won a fall and Fischenich (120) won by technical fall. Jared Willaby (132) added a decision. But the Arrows won a technical fall and had two straight pins before Matter won a decision at 160.
The Arrows won a decision at 170 and led 5-2 after two periods in the 182-pound match before Gavin Mutz proved to be the hero for the Cobras, rolling through and pinning his opponent at the 4:13 mark of the match.
Vince Johnson followed with a technical fall win at 195. The Arrows regained the lead with a decision at 220 but Neil Litfin won a 6-2 decision at heavyweight, giving the Cobras the victory.
