Charger girls pull past Falcons

RRC 22-18 = 40
WWG 30-27 = 57

Westbrook-Walnut Grove pulled away late in the first half Thursday night and maintained a double-digit lead much of the second half in a 57-40 win over Red Rock Central at Westbrook.

The Falcons trimmed the deficit to 26-22 late in the first half before WWG was able to push the lead to eight going into the locker room. WWG's defense then held RRC in check much of the second half, allowing the Chargers to push the lead to over 15 points.

The Falcons were able to hold WWG's top two scorers - Paige Erickson and Dayna Comnick - largely in check. Each scored eight points in the game. But WWG got big games from senior Kelsi Wahl and freshman Abby Herding, who each finished with 12 points. Herding added five steals in the win. Elizabeth Woelber added 11 points while Erickson pulled down 14 rebounds.

Melanie Kedl led RRC with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Eighth-graders Rachel Kedl and Ramsey Piotter each added seven points for the Falcons.

Next games: Check for updates after each game.
