Donations still needed for outdoor classroom
The paver, brick and bench work has been completed on the Jim Tucci Memorial Outdoor Classroom, thanks to Dave Derickson of Split Rock Landscaping.
However, donations are still needed for a tree, shrubs and plants that will fill the circular tree planter and six bordering planters as well as the plaque recognizing donors that will be placed inside Winfair Elementary.
Suzanne LaMaack, a Winfair second grade teacher who is a friend of the Tuccis and spearheaded the outdoor classroom project, said that there were added expenses and additions to the project, which is not uncommon with any project. Consequently, they are seeking more donations, which can be sent to Windom Area Schools' district office (1400 17th St., Windom, MN 56101) with checks made out to: "Windom Area Schools" and "Jim Tucci Memorial" written on the check's memo line.
Plans also call for a mural to be painted in the blank space above the three-section picture window at the back of the classroom.
