The Windom Area Middle High School vocal music department will be getting into the Christmas spirit when it presents the annual "Sounds of the Season" concert Monday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
There is no charge to attend the concert which will be held in the school's old gym.
The concert, which is the first official Windom-only choir concert of the school year, will feature seven choirs and ensembles, all directed by Rachel Axford.
The Women's Choir will open the concert with the Star Spangled Banner and also perform a song that was a hit for Bette Midler titled, "From a Distance."
Then the Gold Choir, comprised of seventh- and eighth-graders, will perform several selections, including "Hot Chocolate."
The Girls Pop Group will do a dance step to "All I Want For Christmas is You," while the Mixed Pop Group will be singing the jazz number, "Baby It's Cold Outside."
The Girls and Guys '50s groups will each sing a selection - the guys singing "Santa's Coming to Town" in the Style of the Blues Brothers; the girls singing an arrangement of "Sleigh Ride" made famous by the 1960s female band, The Ronettes.
The Eagle Concert Choir has several holiday selections on the docket, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Ave Verum" and a new one, "The 12 Days After Christmas." The choir also will sing "Calypso Noel."
Wrapping up the concert will be a mass choir of all choir students in grades 7-12 singing "Let There Be Peace on Earth," which is annually the closing number for each Sounds of the Season concert.
