8/2/2013 9:07:00 AM Windom to host Night to Unite Monday-Student Auction date moved & Get on the Bus cancelled
Downtown Windom will come alive around 5 p.m. on Monday as the annual Night to Unite gets underway. The two-hour event will be held mostly on the north side of the Square and is sponsored by the Cottonwood County Sheriff 's Department, Windom Police, Cottonwood County Youth Task Force, Southwest Crisis Center and Department of Corrections.
The event coincides with the Windom Area Chamber of Commerce Ice Cream Social.
The annual student auction whcih is typically held at the end of the night, was moved to Fri., Aug. 16 at 5:00 p.m. in the entertainment tent on the fairgrounds. This event will coincide with the Cottonwood County Fair.
Also, the annual "Get on the Bus" event has been cancelled.
Families can check out fire trucks, police squad cars, ambulances and other city offerings. Thousands of communities across the nation use events like this to promote cooperative police-community crime prevention efforts. As usual, individuals and families will have an opportunity to get tickets for free ice cream from participating area businesses.
