New Arena would cost $6.3 million, remodeling would cost $7.3 million

The Windom Arena building committee recently received a set of key estimates related to remodeling and new construction of the Windom Arena.

According to information provided to the City of Windom by architects, the breakdown is as follows:

* A new single sheet ice arena (large enough to hold one hockey rink) would cost about $6.3 million to $6.6 million.
* A new two sheet ice arena (large enough to hold two hockey rinks) would cost $8.4 million.
* The cost to remodel the current Arena would be $7.3 million to $7.4 million.

City Administrator Steve Nasby said $950,000 of that would cover the cost of replacing ice-making equipment that will be out of federal compliance by the year 2020. He said the Arena building committee has not received a full break-down of other costs related to remodeling.
