Police release details on van rollover in Windom

More details have been released regarding the two-vehicle accident that resulted in a van flipping upside down in Windom yesterday afternoon.

The mishap occurred at 3:12 p.m. at the corner of 4th Ave. and 12th St. According to police, the accident involved a 2009 Ford van driven by Deborah Gravely, 50, of Windom and a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by Gary Wiens, 53, of Windom.

Windom Police Chief Scott Peterson reported that Wiens was westbound on 12th St. when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The pickup then struck the southbound van, causing it to roll to its roof.

Both vehicles received what Peterson called disabling damage. Transported to Windom Area Hospital by Windom ambulance were: both drivers, plus three passengers from the van.

The accident remains under investigation by the Windom Police Department.
