4/30/2013 9:42:00 AM Westbrook to host free voice, performance workshops
Westbrook has been selected as one of three sites to host a free voice and performance workshop led by Luverne Seifert and Darcey Engen.
The workshop, which will be held June 1 from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the Westbrook High School stage at 344 8th St., in Westbrook, is designed for community actors ages 16 and up. Siefert and Engen are co-artistic directors of a site specific traveling theater collaborative that brings professional and community actors together to perform in classic plays.
Worthington's Pioneer Village Big Barn at 1600 Stower Drive in Worthington also will host the workshop on May 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
A third workshop will be held at the Lake Benton Opera House in Lake Benton on June 1 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Titled "Get on your feet and play," the 1½-hour event is a free voice, physical comedy and devising workshop that explores creating comedic characters through games, clowning techniques and improvisation. It also employs practical voice exercises that can be used to improve projection and diction for the actor and public speaker.
All ability levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. The workshop is non-stressful and heavy on fun.
For more on the workshop, see the story in the May 1 issue of the Cottonwood County Citizen on newstands tomorrow.
