Windom to hire collection agency

It appears the City of Windom will step up its bill collection efforts in the coming weeks and months.

The Windom City Council has approved a recommendation to hire a collection agency. This decision stems from a report from the city's financial department that the City averages $10,000 to $15,000 annually in uncollectable accounts.

Under the new plan, the staff would still follow its current collection process, but accounts remaining uncollected would be turned over to a collection agency.
