Windom could lose $46,000 in state aid

It appears Windom may see a significant drop in Local Government Aid in the next 12 months, according to a new report by the Department of Revenue.

The report listed estimates of LGA payments for hundreds of Minnesota cities, including Windom. If everything holds true, Windom is expected to lose $46,490 in state aid. That's a 3.9% drop from last year, a reduction that amounts to roughly $10 per capita.

The reduction is expected to occur during Windom's second payment of 2013 (aid payments are always split in two, one coming at the start of the year and another at midyear)and its first payment of 2014. Check the Jan. 23 Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition for more on this story.
