Parks to get new shelter, picnic table rates in 2013

The Windom city council recently approved new rates for city picnic tables and shelters.

At last week's regular council meeting, Street and Park Superintendent Bruce Caldwell reported that the park board would like to see the rates for picnic tables be lowered to $10 per day. The previous rate was $15 for the first day and $5 for the second day.

Caldwell said it was rare that tables were rented for more than one day.

As for the large picnic shelters at Island Park and Tegels Park, Caldwell said the daily fee for rentals were $80. The Park Board proposed lowering the fee to $60.
