Winterfest candidates announced at WAHS

Windom Area High School's Student Senate offered a precursor to Winterfest 2013 with the announcement of candidates for king and queen.

The candidates, voted on by the senior class, were announced during an assembly in the Gold Gym Tuesday morning.

Queen candidates include: Amy Elston, Leah Hacker, Johanna Low, Sami Petersen, Megan Will and Rachel Witt.

King candidates are: Trenton Bever, Jacob Johnson, Danny Kneeland, Andy Pfeffer, Michael Rivera and Nicholas Wolter.

Coronation is set for 6:30 p.m., Jan. 26, in the Gold Gym. This year's theme is "True Blue." Coronation concludes Winterfest Week activities and will precede the Winterfest dance, which will be held in the WAHS Commons that same evening.

More details on coronation will be in next week's Citizen.

In addition, the Student Senate has set dress-up days for Winterfest Week, which begins Tuesday (there is no school on Monday).

The days are:
•  Tuesday: Smurf/Comfy Day.
•  Jan. 23: Cowboy/Ugly Sweater Day.
•  Jan. 24: Decades/Super Hero Day.
•  Jan. 25: Eagle Spirit Day.
