11/13/2012 2:56:00 PM Community Blood Bank to hold blood drive at WAMHS
Community Blood Bank's Bloodmobile will hold a blood drive Thursday at Windom Area Middle High School in the new gym lobby.
The drive will run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Blood collected at the drive will benefit the local blood supply at Windom Area Hospital.
The need for blood is constant, which is why people need to donate on a regular basis to ensure the blood supply remains at adequate levels at all times. Just one donation can save up to three peoples' lives.
The blood donation process takes 20 to 30 minutes.
To be eligible to donate, individuals must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health the day of the donation. Donors must also bring an ID.
Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood and blood products to Windom Area Hospital as well as other are hospitals, including Worthington, Luverne, Jackson, Pipestone, Tracy, Tyler, Ivanhoe, Adrian, Westbrook and Slayton.
