Youth hunting rendezous is Saturday
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service office of Windom has announced plans for its second-annual Youth Hunting Rendezvous, which will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wolf Lake offices.
The day will feature several special presentations. The first, at 10:15 a.m., will be a live demonstration on pointing and retrieving dogs. At 11:30 a.m., there will be a demonstration on field dressing game birds. At 12:30 p.m., a demonstration on effective calling, blind and decoy techniques will be held. And at 1:30 p.m. a duck calling lesson will be held, with a contest afterwards.
The day will also feature a gun safety and BB gun shoot, tips on gun care, question and answer sessions from federal and state enforcement officers, duck identification quizzes, the shooting simulator and wood duck and bluebird house construction. Also on hand will be the Turn In Poachers Wall of Shame display.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. A free lunch will also be provided by the Friends of the Windom Wetland Management District.
