Knights outlast Eagle baseball
Wolverines at Falcons, ppd.
Unplayable field conditions prevented Mt. Lake Area and Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove from playing Thursday afternoon in Westbrook.

The game has been rescheduled to be played as a doubleheader on May 8, when the teams were scheduled to meet for the second time this season. However, the location of the doubleheader remains up in the air, although it is tentatively scheduled as being held at Mt. Lake.

Customarily, the host of the second game will host the doubleheader. However, RRC Athletic Director Bryce Pack noted that if the doubleheader is played at Mt. Lake, seven of his team's 10 conference games will wind up being played on the road.

The Windom Eagle baseball team couldn't dig out of a four-run deficit Thursday afternoon, taking a 7-5 loss to Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at Lake Crystal.

The Eagles trailed 3-0 early in the contest before tying the game at 3-3 in the top of the fourth. Windom scored in the third on an RBI single by Sam Huska and a wild pitch. In the fourth, the Eagles executed a double steal, with Jacob Gotto crossing the plate.

But the Knights scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, with the inning extended on an error that allowed three unearned runs to score.

The Eagles got a run back in the fifth when Huska reached on an error. In the sixth, Taylor Quiring hit an RBI single, cutting the deficit to 7-5.

Zach Bartosh had three hits in the loss for the Eagles. Huska and Jeff Pfeffer had two hits each.

Devin Nielsen took the pitching loss, working two-thirds of an inning of relief.
