received two live offers
The former Towlerton Motors site has received two live offers to date, but neither of those have come from Cottonwood County.
At Tuesday morning's Cottonwood County commissioners meeting, Commissioner Tom White said he was told by Lee Towlerton that there had been one "live offer" on the site and it was for about $600,000. That offer was declined by Towlerton.
However, Citizen Online learned Tuesday afternoon that there had been another offer on the property. That offer, however, was not made to Towlerton.
Glen Francis, owner of Ag Builders in Windom, reported that he recently made an offer of "less than $600,000" for the property. That offer, which Francis said was made to a bank that has been involved with the property, has not yet been acted upon.
On Tuesday, Cottonwood County commissioners approved a motion to have Commissioner White meet with Towlerton about getting a possible option on the property. The county is interested in purchasing the Towlerton Motors site so it can remodel the former car dealership into an office building, consolidating three sites into one. Under the plan, the cost of this project could be offset by selling or leasing county-owned buildings and also possibly selling some of the Towlerton property.
