KBowl team gets 2013 season underway with sixth place finish

Windom's junior high Knowledge Bowl team got its 2013 season underway Monday night by earning a sixth-place finish at the Wabasso Invitational.

The team of spokesperson Dakota Scott and team members Morgan Wilder, Lizzie Kelly and Josie Alvstad finished sixth with 35 points.

Host Wabasso won the 24-team meet with 47.5 points, followed by Marshall 2 with 47 points and Tracy 1 with 44.
Starting in Room 7, the Windom team scored 14 points in the opening round, moved up to Room 2 where they scored eight points and finished in Room 4 where they collected 12 more counters.

"It was a moral victory for a mixed team of freshmen, eighth and first-time seventh-grade team members," said Coach Brenda Resch.

Windom competes again Monday night at the Murray County Central Invitational in Slayton. Resch said she expects to have as many as three teams competing in the meet, which annually draws a large number of quality teams from Southwest Minnesota.
