Council OKs 6th Ave. sidewalk; 17th St. sidewalk slated for fall

Windom city, county and school officials hope there is time for one last construction project before the snow flies.

If all goes as planned a new sidewalk in the high school and Winfair School area could be finished by mid-November. Last night, the city council approved a contract for completion of a short stretch of sidewalk along 6th Ave. near Winfair School. That part of the project should be finished within 30 days.

The sidewalk effort started with a focus on the area near Windom Area Middle High School where there is no sidewalk. Citing safety concerns, a group of concerned citizens sought a solution.

Plans are for the sidewalk near the high school to be installed this fall. The contractors for the project are: Ti-Zack Concrete, Inc. of Le Center at a bid of $197,104.
