Windom Police investigate barrage of 911 calls

It has been a busy morning for false 911 calls at the Cottonwood County Law Enforcement Center today.

"We've gotten more than 25 calls already," said Windom Police Officer Corey Hillesheim, adding that the situation is very frustrating. "It's juveniles playing with the phones. We can hear them laughing on the other end."

Hillesheim noted that 911 calls can be traced and the department has been investigating the situation. Based on what he has heard over the phone, Hillesheim is guessing that there are two females involved and that both are under the age of 10.

"This is a serious situation," Hillesheim added. "These lines need to stay open for actual emergencies."
