7/22/2013 8:20:00 AM EDA to seek grant
for hospital expansion
Details are sketchy, but it appears Windom Area Hospital could be headed toward a redevelopment project.
Minutes after finishing an hour-long closed session with Hospital Board President Al Peterson and Hospital Administrator Gerri Burmeister last Tuesday night, the Windom city council voted in support of an EDA effort to seek a state redevelopment grant. That grant is targeted for the hospital area and would ultimately pave the way for a key expansion project.
Aaron Backman, executive director of the EDA, was hesitant to offer details about the project. However, he did say that he feels the grant stands a good chance because it supports the future of a critical community asset in Windom Area Hospital.
