Cottonwood County's senior Consumer Decision Judging team captured first place in the senior division of the regional contest in Slayton last week.
Members of the first-place team are sisters Abby and Natalie Resch and Spencer Wolter.
Individually, Abby Resch earned the top spot in the Senior Division, while Natalie Resch placed second. Wolter finished fourth overall.
In the Novice Division, Molly Resch of Cottonwood County placed third overall.
After the regional contest, competitors participated in a fun, educational "skill-a-thon" that included several household identifications, correctly folding sheets, tasting and identifying a variety of baking chips and baking ingredients, and using a phone book to find businesses.
The Consumer Decision Judging contest helps members prepare for the future by using evaluation scenarios on a set of specific topics. Members have an opportunity to practice their communication skills and develop self-confidence in their abilities to make decisions.
In addition to the individual competition, team members work together discussing, synthesizing and presenting the best options available.
